Go Rock Exclusive: No USA Booze Continues

The province has no intention of reversing its decision to remove American alcohol from NSLC shelves. The Go Rock newsroom reached out to the Premier's office, and in a return email, John Lohr, the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board, says the decision to remove American alcohol was “in response to the unjustified tariffs imposed by the United States on Canadian imports, which continue to impact jobs and threaten our economy.” Lohr says in his email that there are no plans to change the province’s approach until an appropriate resolution is reached with the U.S. He adds that there are local choices filling up the shelves, and the government is looking forward to seeing what other provinces will offer once interprovincial trade barriers are removed.
