Today will mark the first day of the lobster fishing season. Industry officials have voted to start the season at 5 am in Lobster Fishing Area 34 and in LFA 33 at 7 am. The season usually begins on the last Monday of November, but high winds and choppy waves forced a delay this year. The delayed start ensures the safety of lobster fishers. The season closes at the end of May.
